β¨ A Few Weeks Ago at Helen’s Manor… β¨
A few weeks back our team had the most inspiring day at the Forest School Conference hosted by Back to the Wild in the beautiful grounds of Helen’s Manor. πΏπ‘
We’re still feeling energised by the workshops, ideas, and conversations we brought home with us. πβ¨ It was such a wonderful chance to connect with other passionate practitioners and soak up the magic of outdoor learning in such a stunning setting.
We’ve already started weaving some of the inspiration into our own practice — and the children are loving it! π±π
A huge thank you to Back to the Wild and Helen’s Manor for such a memorable day. π³

π Our first few weeks of autumn have been wonderfully gentle — full of soft light, misty mornings, and curious explorers. The children have been gathering fallen leaves in every shape and colour, discovering the magic of spider webs glistening with dew, and noticing how the woods are slowly changing around them.
We’re soaking up every moment of this peaceful seasonal shift — listening, observing, and finding beauty in nature’s quiet details. ππΈβ¨

~Nurturing attention and joy~ the last couple of months have given us a little bit of everything, frosty mornings, warm afternoons and everything in between! But now spring is truly here we’ve enjoyed spending lots of time at our woodland site. We’ve been bug hunting, building sand castles in our giant sand pits and building towers with the many boxes we have collected. #springhassprung #outdoorplay #learningthroughplay #natureinspired
~Nurturing attention and joy~ πΈPlanting the seeds of spring πΊ Our Friday group have been getting the garden ready for spring. They carefully shelled the dried sweet pea pods we had gathered in the autumn and planted the seeds. Now it’s up to nature to work its magic! #kindergarten #ludlow #natureeducation #springiscoming #growingtogether #littlegardeners
~Nurturing attention and joy~ πͺΆTuning into the wild birds around us πͺΆ Now that all of the leaves have gone, we can so easily see the wild birds that share our woodland space. Watching the birds hop from branch to branch is magical. This week we filled up our bird feeders and added two nesting boxes (kindly made for us by a parent) to our woodland space. We also made clay nests and eggs. #winter #wildbirds #outdoorplay #seasonalplay #learningthroughplay #natureinspired #woodlandplay #bromfield #ludlow #didriksons #didriksonskids

~ Nurturing attention and joy ~ when a kind parent gives you a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins!
We have rolled them, added clay features, hammered wooden pegs into them and made pumpkin soup. So much pumpkin fun π #pumpkinfun #learningthroughplay
~ Nurturing attention and joy ~ the shorter darker days give us the opportunity to play with light. #exploratoryplay
~Nurturing attention and joy- we’ve been working with different people in our community over the last couple of weeks. First we helped Jim to spread hay cut from the uncultivated grounds of Bromfield churchyard, the hay is full of dried wild flowers that we are hoping to reintroduce into the meadow near our playroom. And last week we visited Darren at the walled garden, we helped to harvest apples as well as other vegetables that he needed picking. We tasted lots of different varieties of apple and used them to make our afternoon snack all last week, yum!
~Nurturing attention and joy ~ we’ve been so busy nurturing our new children and tuning our attention in to the joys of September that we haven’t said hello yet this term, hello ππ» As promised here’s a tour of our playroom and barn (now also our studio space) since we rearranged, tweaked and tidied during the summer break.
We’re looking forward to welcoming our group back next week, as well as settling in 10 new little grubs this term. This week Jacqui and Fran are busily rearranging the playroom and creating a new space in the barn. We can’t wait for you to see it π watch this space! #kindergarten #earlyyears #outdoorplay
To all of our past grubs getting ready to return to school or start school next week. Enjoy discovery, investigation, play and time with friends. We are very proud to have been part of your story π³π #earlyyearssetting #earlyyearseducation #natureeducation
~Nurturing, attention and joy~
Making a mole and a pinch bowl... after observing a dead mole recently the children used clay to recreate what they had seen, "a long nose and big hands." Then play gently moved on from moles to making pinch pots, Emily showed the group how to use their strong thumbs to push a hole into the middle of their clay, making a handy pot! #childledlearning #learningthroughplay #clayplay
